Medical

Many long term medical conditions require consistent periodic testing done at home, things like blood pressure or blood sugar levels. These tests can be incorporated into the each clients unique care package

Two of the more common issues faced are hypotension and diabetes, these two conditions require regular monitoring from home which can be assisted by our care staff.

Low blood pressure (hypotension)

Low blood pressure is a reading of less than 90/60mmHg. It does not always cause symptoms, but you may need treatment if it does. Get your blood pressure checked if you keep getting symptoms like:

⚫lightheadedness or dizziness
⚫feeling sick
⚫blurred vision
⚫generally feeling weak
⚫confusion
⚫fainting

This might mean your blood pressure is too low. If you get symptoms when you stand up or suddenly change position, you may have postural hypotension.

Diabetes

Diabetes is a lifelong condition that causes a person's blood sugar level to become too high.Type 2 diabetes is far more common than type 1. In the UK, around 90% of all adults with diabetes have type 2.

There are 2 main types of diabetes:

⚫ type 1 diabetes – where the body's immune system attacks and destroys the cells that produce insulin
⚫ type 2 diabetes – where the body does not produce enough insulin
